Every day we hear something new about the Champions Trophy 2025. What remains constant is BCCI and PCB’s constant tiffs. It seems both boards have decided they won’t agree to anything. One rejects travelling to Pakistan, the other shoots down the hybrid model, and another peace plan has been denied. Speaking of Asia, India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has left the subcontinent and taken a flight over the Pacific Ocean and will reach Australia soon. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant might have been given the shock of his life. After paying nearly Rs 30 crore for him, Lucknow Super Giants might not make him captain of the side.Â
BCCI rejects PCB’s offer
The latest development regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is that the BCCI has rejected PCB’s partnership model. According to it, the India vs Pakistan matches in the next three years were to be played at a neutral venue (Dubai). But the BCCI has shot down PCB’s suggestion. So far, no news regarding the schedule of the 8-team event, and given that the tiff continues between the two boards, one can’t be sure when things will resolve.Â
Gambhir Gambhir returns to Australia
Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, will join the side on December 3. Gambhir had cited personal reasons behind his sudden departure, and it is believed that he’d flown back due to some health issues that someone in his family had experienced. Gambhir had missed the India vs Prime Minister’s XI match but is back in time for the Pink Ball Test.Â
Pant, not confirmed as LSG captain?
Well, there might be a twist in the tale. LSG might not appoint Rishabh Pant, who they bought for Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, as their captain. According to the LSG owner, they have ‘four leaders.‘ They are Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, and Pant himself. Not sure what to make of the statement. But given Pooran was LSG’s top retention, he might as well be named captain.Â
